Description
No. 10 Market Place is a house that has been partly converted into a shop. It was built in the 18th century, raised and altered in the early 19th century, with further modifications made later. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring stone and stucco dressings, and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has two first-floor windows. The ground floor features a slightly advanced 20th-century shop front. The first floor has two plate-glass sash windows that are placed slightly asymmetrically, while the second floor has a wider central plate-glass sash window. All windows have projecting stone sills and wedge lintels with incised voussoirs and raised fluted keystones. The lintel on the second floor is set in later brickwork. There is a brick end stack on the right side of the building. This property is included for its group value.
