Description

This is a late 18th-century house, later used as a shop and offices. It is located on the south-east side of Pontefract Market Place. The building is constructed of painted brick with gauged brick and stone dressings, and has a concrete tile roof. It stands three stories high and features three bays. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front. A wide, slightly damaged stone sill band runs across the first floor, above which are three tall plate-glass sash windows. Above them are three smaller sash windows of a similar style, each with projecting sills and flat gauged brick arches. A moulded stone cornice is topped with a later brick blocking course. The building has no chimney stacks. Early 20th-century plasterwork is visible on the left gable wall.
