Lodge to Gledhow Hall, Gledhow Lane (qv), with attached low wall and railing and inner and outer pairs of piers. 1885-90. By Chorley and Connon, architects of James Kitson's work at the Hall. Rock-faced gritstone and ashlar, slate roof, ashlar piers, wrought-iron railings. Lodge of 2 storeys, 2 x 2 bays, Italianate style. S front has 4-panel door, keyed round arch to porch, left, balustrade over, projecting pedimented gabled bay right with canted bay window to ground floor, 4-centred arched window above, 4-pane sashes. Moulded eaves cornice, stone gutter brackets, gable copings, corniced ridge stack right. Segmental-arched windows on right return. INTERIOR: not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: attached low wall with moulded coping and plain railings curves around front garden to meet gate piers. The 4 piers are approx 2.5m high, square section, plinth, raised oval panels, deep corniced capstone with square base, one with cast-iron lamp base. Overall length of railings, piers and wall approx 30m.
