Description

Gledhow Lodge is a large house dating from the mid-19th century, now used as a home for the elderly. It is constructed of ashlar and has a low-pitched slate roof with wide eaves. The house is two storeys high and originally had three windows across the front. The central section projects slightly, with recessed corners. The windows are sash windows with margin panes. A ground-floor projection forms a balcony to the first floor, with lattice-pattern railings. Above the central doorway, a pediment sits over a cornice, flanked by pilasters and large sash windows with margin lights within eared, moulded architraves. A wing to the left is set back and lower, with two storeys and four sash windows. This wing also has a slate hipped roof, and ground-floor niches containing inserted windows. A late 20th-century wing has been added to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
