Description
Corbie Steps is a house built in 1914 by John Sydney Brocklesby. It features coursed rubble with ashlar dressings and a pantile roof, along with a single tall stack. The building has a cross plan and is two storeys high with an attic.
On the south front, there is a projecting central gable wing, with a round-headed corner porch and a part-glazed six-panel door to the left. To the right, there is a canted oriel bay window with a stone slate roof and iron casements. Above this bay window, there are two two-light mullioned casement windows and a single-light window above. The tall gable is coped and has crow-stepped detailing.
The east front also features a projecting central gabled wing with a two-storey canted bay window, which includes stone mullions and iron casements. Above this bay window is a single iron casement, and the coped gable is decorated with ashlar bands.
Inside, the house retains its original staircase, all its doors, some original fireplaces, and high panelling in the rear drawing room, which also features original shutters.
