Description

Underwood Cottage is a pair of cottages that have been combined into a single dwelling, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys high with a basement and consists of two cells. The exterior includes quoins, and each cottage has a doorway with tie-stone jambs located to the left of a window that has plain-stone surrounds. Originally, these windows were three lights, but the mullions have been removed. The building has widely spaced gutter brackets, coped gables with kneelers, and a central ridge stack.

At the rear, the basement includes a doorway with tie-stone jambs to the right of two blocked windows. On the ground floor, there is a former three-light window and a four-light flat-faced mullioned window with recessed mullions, both of which are blocked. A taking-in door with tie-stone jambs, also blocked, is situated between these windows. The first floor features an inserted window to the left of another blocked three-light window.
