Description
No 997 on Harrogate Road is a building located on a corner site with Meadow Road, dating from around 1800, which involved refacing and alterations of an earlier 17th or 18th-century structure. The building features a two-storey front made of sandstone that resembles brick, while the sides and rear are constructed from large coursed gritstone blocks. It has a stone slate roof and a narrow road front with a blocked first-floor window space, alongside a revealed ground-floor sash window and doorway. There is a small sunken paved forecourt enclosed by cast iron railings from the 19th century. The south gable end has a broad three-light square mullioned window on both floors. Additionally, there are three-light square mullion windows from around 1800 on the rear elevation and in the lean-to extension.
