Description

The Stansfield Arms Public House and integral barn is a building that may have originally been constructed as an inn, but it is designed in the style of a farmhouse with a barn attached. It likely dates from the late 18th century. The structure is two storeys high and features coursed sandstone "bricks" with flush ashlar quoins. It has a double gate with a gable end and stone slate roofs, along with saddlestones and shaped kneelers. The building is topped with corniced ashlar chimneys. The original front of the house has three windows, with two light square mullions flanking a single light window above the doorway. To the left, there are three light square mullion windows, while the barn has been altered to include a large mullion-transom window. The side facing the road has double gables, with two light square mullion windows on the first floor and a large three light window on the ground floor.
