Description
The Plough Inn and attached barn is a farmhouse that has been converted into a public house, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared sandstone with gritstone dressings, and features slate roofs with stone ridges. The house has rendered gable end stacks, with two similar ridge stacks on the barn.
The building is two storeys high and has two bays. There is a central 20th-century porch that covers the original door, with two 2-light flush mullion windows on either side. To the west, there is an advanced 20th-century single-storey addition that includes a 3-light flush mullion window. Above this addition, there are two 19th-century 2-light flush mullion windows. All the windows in the building are from the 20th century.
Attached to the east is a two-storey, three-bay barn. This barn features two flush quoined doorcases on the east side, a single light flush window, and a flight of eight steps leading up to a first-floor door on the west side. Above this door, there is one single flush window and one 2-light flush window with a doorcase between them.
