Description
This is a late 17th-century outbuilding, formerly known as the Old Barracks at Roadnook Farm. It is constructed of coursed sandstone rubble with gritstone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The north gable has moulded stone copings and 20th-century ball finials at the ridge and eaves. The building is two storeys high and has two bays.
The central entrance features a quoined doorcase with a moulded architrave and a deep lintel, leading to a 20th-century plank door. On either side of the entrance, there are two-light recessed and chamfered mullion windows, each with moulded hoods above, and 20th-century single pane casements. Above the door, there is a flush quoined doorcase that leads to the loft.
The north gable wall shows remains of a blocked 17th-century two-light window, along with two single-light recessed and chamfered windows that also have moulded hoods above. At the rear, there is a later single-storey cowshed attached to the building.
