Description
Outbuilding called 'The Chapel' at Roadnook Farm, built in 1673 with later alterations. The ground floor is made of coursed sandstone rubble, while the upper storey features 17th century and later red brick, with sandstone dressings. It has a stone slate roof and moulded stone coped gables with plain kneelers. The building is two storeys high and consists of a single bay.
On the north elevation, there is a two-light recessed and chamfered mullion window to the east. To the west, there is a quoined flush doorcase with a chamfered four-centred arch at the base of the lintel. Above the door, there is a plaque carved with decoration and inscribed 'SI 1673'. The upper red brick storey has a blocked oval opening above the door. There is evidence that the eaves have been significantly raised, as larger bricks were used for the top courses.
The north gable wall features a two-light recessed and chamfered mullion window on the ground floor, with the remains of a similar window above, where a later doorway has been inserted. A line of old eaves is visible. The south gable wall includes a single light recessed and chamfered window and a dovecote.
