Description
The Midland Bank is a detached bank building constructed in a Classical style during the mid to late 19th century. It is built of ashlar stone, featuring rusticated quoins and a rusticated ground floor. The building has a hipped slate roof with a moulded eaves cornice and a blocking course supported by console brackets, along with prominent ashlar eaves stacks.
The structure is two storeys high with a symmetrical five-bay facade, which includes a moulded bracketed string course. At the center, there is a round arched porch adorned with large festooned consoles that support a full entablature with a balcony. On either side of the porch, there are two large round arched windows, each framed by rusticated voussoirs, with well-carved figure heads as keystones. The first-floor windows feature architraves and consoled cornices, with the central window topped by a segmental pediment, while the outer windows are complemented by a balustrade below.
The left elevation consists of three bays, showcasing round arched windows on the ground floor and square-headed windows on the first floor.
