Description

The Trustee Savings Bank, located at 103 Norfolk Street in Sheffield, is a bank building dating from the late 19th century, with some alterations made in the late 20th century. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a hipped slate roof, complemented by two stone side wall stacks with dentilled cornices. The building is designed in a Classical Revival style and is rusticated throughout.

The structure includes a plinth, a dentilled cornice at the first floor, a modillion cornice at the eaves, and balustrades. The central block is a two-storey cubic shape with three windows, flanked by single-storey wings that each have a single window. The central block showcases three moulded, round-headed, margin-glazed windows adorned with mask keystones, and a balustrade topped with urns.

On the ground floor, bays are defined by engaged Corinthian columns, with paired columns at the ends, and three late 20th-century single-pane windows featuring enriched triple keystones with masks. A balustrade stretches across the front of the building. The square wings are accentuated by paired round and square Corinthian columns that form porticos, which contain late 20th-century glazed doors and overlights, set within openings that also feature enriched triple keystones. The interior was refitted in the late 20th century and includes a dentilled cross beam ceiling.
