Description
67 and 69 Surrey Street are two houses, now functioning as a house and a bookshop, built around 1830. The building was reroofed and the right gable was rebuilt around 1985. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The eaves are moulded and dentilled, and the right gable features a pediment. The building has three storeys and a four-window range arranged in a 3:1 pattern. The windows have brick flat arches, with four 12-pane sashes on the lower level and four 9-pane sashes above. The central wooden doorcase is adorned with rounded engaged columns and a pediment, featuring a beaded six-panel door. On either side of the door, there is a 12-pane sash window. To the right, there is a 20th-century pilastered wooden doorcase with a pediment and a half-glazed door. The right return of the building has two blank spaces on the upper floors and a full-width 20th-century wooden shopfront with a central door flanked by single-pane windows. The interior has not been inspected.
