Description
Nos 1 to 4 on Bents Lane are a late 18th century to early 19th century farm terrace built from hammer-dressed stone, topped with a pitched stone slate roof. The southwest gable features a coped design with moulded footstones. The terrace is two storeys high.
On the southeast elevation, No 1 has a ground floor doorway with a stone surround and two single light windows with stone surrounds on the first floor. No 2 features a ground floor doorway with a stone surround, a large partly blocked doorway with tie-stones and an elliptical arched head, and one 3-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has two 2-light stone mullioned windows.
No 3 includes a ground floor doorway with a stone surround, a large garage doorway with a steel lintel and brick piers, and one 2-light stone mullioned window. The first floor has two 3-light stone mullioned windows. No 4 has a ground floor doorway with a stone surround, and two 3-light stone mullioned windows, although the mullions have been removed. The first floor features one 3-light stone mullioned window with one mullion removed, and one 4-light stone mullioned window with two mullions removed.
On the northwest elevation, No 2 has one 2-light stone mullioned window on each floor, as does No 3. The southwest gable has one single light window. This building is included for its group value.
