Description
Plumpton Farmhouse is a house built around 1820, with a rear addition and outshut dated 1842. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features large dressed quoins at the first floor, topped with a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and a single-storey outshut at the back.
The façade consists of three bays, each with flat-faced mullions. The left bay has a five-light window with a similar five-light window above it, while the middle bay has a doorway with tie-stone jambs and a monolithic jamb. This doorway has been altered to include two wide lights on either side of a narrower central light, with a five-light window above. The left return wall features a two-light window on the ground floor and another two-light window in the outshut to the left of the doorway, which has a dated lintel. There is a small stack at the corner of the outshut, which has a lean-to roof.
The right return wall includes a gabled porch with a doorway that has tie-stone jambs, and a two-light window above it on the first floor. The house has two stacks along the ridge.
