Description

This barn, located 10 meters north of Upper Clough Foot, is likely from the early 17th century, with its roof raised in the late 19th century. It is constructed of large dressed stone, except for the top courses which are hammer-dressed, and features a stone slate roof. The barn has three bays. The central cart entry is marked by a monolithic lintel inscribed "1 8 W F 9 0" and has a chamfered surround. On either side of the cart entry are mistal doorways; the left doorway features a deep lintel, composite jambs, and a broad chamfered surround, while the right doorway has thin monolithic jambs, which are likely from the 18th century. The barn also includes rectangular chamfered ventilators and coped gables.
