Description
Lower Clough Foot is an early 17th-century house constructed from large dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It is L-shaped and has two storeys. The front features three rooms, with a rear dairy located under a wide gable that has a projecting bay for the hall on the north side. The house follows a lobby-entry plan, with the entrance door situated in the rear wall.
The south front includes a service end at a lower level, which is similar to Upper Clough Foot on Cragg Lane, and has altered windows. The main body of the house has double chamfered mullioned windows, most of which are missing their mullions, along with a two-light fire-window. The parlour features a five-light double chamfered mullioned window, while the first floor has two five-light chamfered mullioned windows.
The left-hand return wall displays kneelers to the gable and a three-light chamfered mullioned window, with a two-light attic window positioned above it. The original rear entry has been blocked by a late 20th-century lean-to extension, and the current entry is now located on the south front at the service end. This area has two chamfered mullioned windows, one with three lights and an inscribed lintel reading "D A I R Y," and another with four lights at a lower level. The right-hand return wall features a lateral stack with offsets and another off-centre stack at the ridge. The interior has not been inspected.
