Description
Stocks Spring is a house built around 1635, constructed from large dressed stone with a partially surviving stone slate roof. It features a three-room, through-passage plan with a rear kitchen wing. The first cell has two chamfered windows that were originally two lights each, and there is a four-light window above. The entrance is a depressed Tudor arched doorway with a chamfered surround that creates spandrels. The house includes double chamfered mullioned windows, a two-light fire-window, and a six-light housebody window, along with a four-light parlour window on the first floor that has larger windows with plain stone surrounds. The rear of the through-passage has a straight lintel with a deeply chamfered surround. The kitchen window features a five-light double chamfered mullioned window with a hoodmould and straight returns, along with a five-light window above. Although this part is in a ruinous state, it still retains a Tudor arched fireplace and a stop-chamfered spine beam.
