Description
Stannery End is a house that was built in 1629, as indicated by the initials and date inscribed on it. The building features a three-room, through-passage plan and is two stories tall at the front, with a single-storey aisle at the rear and an attached two-storey kitchen wing.
The first cell of the house has chamfered mullioned windows with two lights and three lights, along with a four-light window above. The doorway has a Tudor arched lintel and is framed by composite jambs and a chamfered surround. Above the door, a corbel supports a stone slab, with a two-light window situated above it. The housebody has a six-light double chamfered mullioned window, with a five-light window above, and the parlour features a five-light window with a four-light window above it. A drip course runs above the ground floor windows, adorned with heart-shaped stops. The gables are coped and supported by kneelers, and there are three stacks along the ridge, one of which is positioned against the through-passage.
On the right-hand return wall, there is a two-light window with a similar window above it, as well as an inserted doorway with monolithic jambs. The rear of the building has three chamfered mullioned windows with two lights each, leading to an outshut. The kitchen wing projects forward and has a four-light chamfered window, with a similar window above that lacks mullions. The doorway to the kitchen features a depressed arch and a stop chamfered surround, and there are two former windows that originally had two lights each.
Inside, there is a door leading into a service room that has a basket arched lintel, connecting to the through-passage. The doorway into the kitchen features a pointed arch and leads out of the housebody.
