Description
New House, located at numbers 5, 7, and 9 on Hall Bank Lane in Mytholmroyd, is a house that was initialled and dated "W M G 1718" and has undergone mid-19th century and 20th century alterations. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof and stands two storeys tall. Originally designed with a three-room front and a double-pile layout, it has now been divided into three separate dwellings.
A prominent feature of the building is the impressive two-storey porch attached to the left section, which resembles the porch at Little Burlees on Burlees Lane. The exterior includes a plinth, a raised band, and rusticated quoins. The semi-circular arched doorway is adorned with a moulded impost and a dropped keystone. Above this doorway, there is a bullseye window with a moulded cornice and sill. The gable is coped and features kneelers and a ball finial.
Inside, the doorway has a flat arched lintel that bears the date set within a tressure, along with composite jambs that have a stop-chamfered surround. To the right of the porch, there is a double chamfered mullioned window with a lowered sill, which was originally designed with four lights but has been altered to two. Above this window, there is a similar window on the first floor. Most other windows have been altered with modern glazing. The gables are coped with kneelers, and the right-hand front gable retains its original lantern finial. The building features three chimney stacks.
