Description

Low Bank Farmhouse and Cottage, along with an attached barn, is a late 18th-century building that originally functioned as a two-cottage laithe-house but now serves as a single dwelling. The structure is made of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The south front consists of four cells, with quoins and flat-faced mullioned windows. There are three-light windows with a similar design above, and a four-light window that is missing two mullions, accompanied by a seven-light window above it, which includes two solid lights. The doorway has monolithic jambs inscribed with "W T". The next cottage is positioned at a higher level, with doorways on either side of a four-light window that has a matching window above on the first floor.

At the rear, there is a barn on the left side with a cart entry that features a monolithic lintel and tie-stone jambs inscribed with "G I H". The interior has a three-bay layout supported by two queen post trusses, and it includes flat-faced mullioned windows with two and four lights. The right-hand return wall has a mistal doorway with tie-stone jambs and a circular ventilator at the apex. The building has two stacks at the ridge and is a prominent feature in the landscape.
