Description

Wind Whistle Farmhouse and Cottages is a late 18th-century laithe-house, with a barn that has been converted into cottages. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone with a slate roof. It comprises a 2-bay, 2-storey house with a former barn to the right and a former workshop at first-floor level. Details include a projecting plinth and quoins. The front of the farmhouse features a central door with a square-cut surround, flanked by 4-light windows, and a continuous 13-light workshop window. An arched cart entry, now blocked, has a keystone, and windows and doors have been inserted to create the cottages. A blocked taking-in door is located at the rear, along with 2- and 3-light windows, and one cavetto-moulded double-chamfered mullion window. The roof has ridge chimney stacks.
