Description
Green Hills Farmhouse, Cottage, and Barn is a mid to late 18th century structure that combines a farmhouse, cottage, and barn in one range. The building is made of hammer-dressed stone with a plinth and features quoins at the north-west corner of the barn. It has a pitched stone slate roof with a coped gable on the south-west side, supported by moulded footstones, and a central stack.
The south-east elevation of the farmhouse and cottage has a ground floor entrance with a stone surround, tie-stones, and a large lintel. There is a 4-light stone mullioned window and a 2-light stone mullioned window, both recessed, along with a small casement and a former 3-light stone mullioned window that is now blocked. On the first floor, there are three recessed 3-light stone mullioned windows and one recessed 2-light stone mullioned window, as well as a former 3-light stone mullioned window where the mullions have been removed.
The north-east gable has been much altered with various openings, including a former 3-light stone mullioned window with one mullion removed. The north-west elevation features a slightly more recent lean-to extension that contains stone stairs leading to the house, with one 2-light stone mullioned window and a single light. The ground floor of the house has a former 2-light stone mullioned window that is now recessed with the mullion removed, while the first floor has a single small sash window.
The barn's south-east elevation includes a large central doorway with a segmental arched head, a slightly pronounced keystone, stone surrounds, and tie-stones. There is also a smaller doorway with stone surrounds, tie-stones, and a large lintel. The north-west elevation has a small central doorway with a large lintel, stone surrounds, and tie-stones. The roof truss of the barn is a simple tie beam type with braces.
