Description

Higher Cragg Farmhouse is a house of 17th-century origin, altered and extended in the 19th century. It is constructed of large dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The house is T-shaped. A rear wing features a double-chamfered mullioned window with five lights, two of which are three-lights high on the first floor. A coped gable is present to the right-hand return wall. An inserted doorway has a lintel inscribed “18 WF 90”, which may relate to the date of the south front. This front has two bays of three-light, flat-faced mullioned windows with projecting sills, but without jambs.
