Description
Shepherd's Cottage is a house built in the late 18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof, with coped gables and kneelers. The building is an extension of Well Royd and has a single cell front with a double pile plan, consisting of two storeys.
On the ground floor, there is a four-light flat faced mullioned window, although two of the mullions have been removed. The door has monolithic jambs and a projecting band. The first floor features a four-light flat faced mullioned window, with two mullions removed, and a two-light flat facet mullioned window, with one mullion removed. The side gables have been re-faced. The quoins from Well Royd have been removed, which is evident where the two buildings connect. The rear of the cottage retains quoins and has a four-light flat faced mullioned window with an overlapping head and sill on the first floor.
