Description

The burial ground boundary and retaining wall with gates and steps at Providence United Reformed Church date from around 1814. The triangular plot is enclosed by a drystone wall. There are single ashlar gate piers topped with a wrought iron overthrow at the apex. The wall transitions into a retaining wall as the ground slopes down towards the chapel. Here, a right-angle stone staircase is integrated into the wall, featuring wrought iron waved rails and iron finialed turner standards, all dating from approximately 1814.
