Description

Shepherd’s Cottage and Shepherd’s House are a pair of houses dating from the late 18th century. They are timber-framed with a ground floor of red and blue chequered brick and a tile-hung first floor. The main roof is hipped, with a stack to the left. The windows are regularly placed sashes with vertical glazing bars; the front has two sashes on each floor, a central panelled door with a cornice hood, and a wooden casement above the door. To the left of the door are two shallow bays on the ground floor. The right-hand return features double carriage doors with a cambered head and a multi-paned casement leading to workshop/store rooms. The left-hand cottage was altered in the late 20th century, but was originally built to the same design. The pair are included in the list for their group value.
