Description

Shepherd’s Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of roughly cut and squared ham stone with ashlar dressings, and has a double Roman clay tiled roof with a tall coped gable on the southwest side and a plain gable on the northeast side. A stone rubble chimney stack is also present. The south-east elevation, which faces the road, is two storeys high and comprises three bays. At right angles to the road, the cottage features hollow-chamfered mullioned windows set in chamfered recesses, with labels above. The lower windows are three-light, but the upper window in the second bay is a 20th-century casement, and the lower window in the second bay has a boarded door within a moulded flat-arched doorway. A rear extension is present. The interior of the cottage was not inspected during the listing process.
