Description
Wren Cottage is a detached cottage dating to the 18th century, with later modifications. It is constructed of ham stone rubble with a thatched roof between stepped coped gables, and has brick end chimney stacks. The two-bay cottage is two storeys high. On the upper floor, there is a two-light early casement window with rectangular leaded panes and an iron opening light in the left bay, and an oculus window set in a single stone with rectangular leaded panes in the right bay. The ground floor features a two-light horizontal-bar casement window to the left, with hooks for shutters still in place, and a deeper three-light casement window to match, with a transome, in the right bay; both are sheltered by a flat stone hood supported on cast iron brackets. A lean-to addition with a double Roman clay tiled roof is attached to the west gable, featuring a plain 20th-century window above. The rear elevation has two three-light casement windows with old leaded panes on the upper floor, and a three-light mullioned window in the lower bay one, alongside a French door in the lower bay two. The interior of the cottage has not been inspected.
