Description

Milestone to the front of Stony Lea is a mid 19th century milestone. It features an arch-headed stone that is overlaid with cast iron and has two projecting faces. The top of the milestone reads: "ELLAND & SADDLEWORTH ROAD BARKISLAND". The left face indicates "JUNCTION 9 MILES", while the right face shows "ROCHDALE 15 MILES" and "3½ MILES".
