Description

The curved steps of a former cross-base or mounting block are located between numbers 19 and 21 on Stainland Road in Barkisland. This structure is likely half of a medieval cross-base that has since lost its cross-shaft and was repurposed as a mounting block. The steps are made of semi-circular dressed gritstone blocks, which rise in four progressive stages.
