Description

Christ Church is a church built in 1854 by the architects Mallinson and Healey from Bradford. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with ashlar dressings and features a slate roof. The church includes a nave, aisles, chancel, and a south porch. The five-bay nave is flanked by aisles that have pointed arched windows, with offset buttresses in between. The porch, located in the second bay of the aisle, has a coped gable topped with a cross and a pointed arched doorway. The west window consists of three cusped lights, and above the gable is a bellcote. The chancel has a lower roof line, angle buttresses, and a two-bay east window with three lights and plate tracery.

Inside, the nave features five bays with pointed arches supported by clustered colonnettes and a six-bay arch-braced roof. There is a Gothic Revival stone-carved reredos and a carved octagonal font with a diaper surface decorated with fleurons and symbols of the Apostles. A memorial tablet commemorates William Baxter of the Lower Hall, who donated the site for the church.
