Description
Barkisland Church of England Infant School is an integral school and headmaster's house built in 1867. It features hammer dressed stone with ashlar dressings and a slate roof, showcasing a simple Gothic Revival style typical of village schools. The central open hall is flanked by wings at either end, each with gabled porches that have pointed arched doorways and coped gables. The gables of the wings include pointed arched windows with tracery, while the hall range has windows with three arched lights. The south wing serves as the headmaster's house and is one and a half storeys tall. It has a pointed arched doorway with a decorative ironwork door and mullioned and transomed windows on either side. Gabled dormers feature cross-windows, and there are two stacks on the ridge, with one additional stack on the hall. The east gable displays a date plaque.
