Description

Wrington Primary School, built in the late 19th century, is a primary school with a headmaster's house attached. It is constructed of squared and coursed rubble with ashlar dressings, flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, stone copings, and a plain tile roof. The building is designed in a Free Gothic style. The schoolrooms are arranged symmetrically; the five-bay elevation features two tall gabled bays projecting from the main block, and a recessed three-bay section with two further gables. The minor windows have chamfered cross-mullion glazing, while the larger gables have panelled Perpendicular style tracery under segmental heads. A central part-glazed entrance corridor features a Tudor-arched doorway and plank door. The headmaster's house, which is situated to the left, has cross-mullion windows, some of which are in canted bays. It is of two storeys, planned in an L-shape, and includes a porch with a pyramidal cap at the corner, surmounted by a gabled roof. Several ridge brick stacks are present.
