Description
Tanners is a terraced house dating from the mid-18th century. It features a stone plinth course, incised render with stone copings, and pantile roofs. The building has an L-shaped plan, consisting of a main three-storey block with three windows and a two-storey former stable range on the right. The main block has 12-pane sash windows on the ground and first floors, and 9-pane sashes on the top floor. The right-hand range includes one ground floor three-light casement and one upper 12-pane sash. There is a central doorway in the main block with a projecting flat section surround and a six-panel door. The main block has a gabled roof, while the lower range has a hipped roof, and there are two end brick stacks. The house is named after a tannery, with its workshops still visible in the lane at the rear.
