Description
Cambridge House is a former baker's house, now used as offices, dating from around 1820. It features limewashed render and a plain tile roof, with an L-shaped plan that includes a rear staircase projection. The building is three stories tall and has a three-window north front. The windows on the ground and first floors are 12-pane sashes, while those on the upper floor are 9-pane sashes. The central entrance has an open pedimented doorcase supported by carved brackets, leading to a six-panel door and a semi-circular fanlight with spoked glazing. The ends of the building have pilasters adorned with incised anthemion sprays at the top and gadrooned capitals below the widely projecting bracketed eaves. The hipped roof has a brick stack on the right-hand end. There is a sash window in the staircase featuring intersecting Gothick glazing. Inside, the staircase boasts a wreathed mahogany handrail, square balusters, and carved tread ends.
