Description

Sawter House Farmhouse is a house that likely dates from the mid-17th century and has undergone some alterations in the 19th century. It is constructed from coursed squared stone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and five windows on the first floor, along with a continuous rear outshut.

The south front of the house has quoins and features mostly mullioned windows. The ground floor has double-chamfered windows, while the first floor has single-chamfered windows. From left to right, the first section has a 4-light window on each floor. The second section includes a 20th-century doorway inserted to the left of a 5-light window, with a 3-light window above. The third section has a 2-light window, where the mullion is missing, to the left of a 19th-century doorway, and a 4-light window that has been reduced to a 2-light window above. The fourth section features a 19th-century doorway that has been converted into a window to the left of a 19th-century 3-light window, with a 19th-century 2-light window above. The fifth section has a 4-light window that has been changed to a 2-light window, with a 19th-century window above it. The house has two ridge stacks and one stack at the left end.

At the rear, there is a 3-light, a 2-light, and a 4-light chamfered mullion window, along with a door in another 2-light window on the right side, and two 19th-century windows. The left return of the house shows the base of an external stack and a 2-light chamfered mullion window to the right.
