Description
High Gate Farmhouse is a house from the early 18th century, with alterations made in the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and features quoins. Each of the two cells has a double chamfered mullioned window, with a 19th-century flat faced mullioned window above on the first floor. There is a five-light window below with a similar window above, and a four-light window below with a matching window above. Some of the mullions are missing. The rear of the house includes a three-light chamfered mullioned window to the left of two doorways with monolithic jambs, one of which has been altered to form a window. On the first floor, there is an impressive long flat faced mullioned window with 13 lights. The house has one stack on the ridge at the junction with an added 19th-century barn, which has been converted into a dwelling and is not of interest. This barn is excluded from the listing.
