Description
Lower Blackshaw Farmhouse is a house that was originally three early 19th century cottages on the south front, although the rear wall is entirely from the 17th century and follows an original three-room plan. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and three bays of flat-faced mullioned windows with slightly projecting sills. There is a three-light window above, and a later 19th century gabled porch with a semi-circular arched doorway, which has a hoodmould that was reused in this position around 1980. Above the porch, there is a single light window on the first floor. The farmhouse also features a five-light window above a doorway that now has tie-stone jambs and forms a window. Additionally, there is a three-light window with a four-light window above it on the first floor, along with another doorway that has tie-stone jambs. The rear of the building has a weathered plinth and seven chamfered mullioned windows of two lights on the ground floor, with six windows above on the first floor that include two, three, and four lights. There are two stacks along the ridge of the roof.
