Description
This building, located at 1 and 3 New Shaw Lane, is a pair of cottages that have been combined into a single residence. It dates from the early 19th century, with a slightly later added section. The structure is made of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys high and is divided into three sections. The first section includes a garage door on the ground floor that has been added in a way that does not match the original style of the building. The first floor features a taking-in door flanked by flat-faced mullioned windows, which have two lights and a single light with small-paned glazing. There is a break in the stonework here.
The second section has a doorway with tie-stone jambs and a flat-faced mullioned window with a slightly projecting sill containing four lights, with a five-light window above it on the first floor. The third section features a four-light window with a similar window above it. Quoins are present only at the right-hand end of the building. There are gable stacks and two additional stacks along the ridge, both of which have been reduced in height.
