Description
This barn, located approximately 20 metres east of Upper Lumb Farmhouse, dates back to around 1800. It is constructed of coursed squared stone and features a stone slate roof. The barn consists of four bays, with the two on the right projecting at the front and back as outshuts under a catslide roof. There is a segmental arched cart-entry with tie-stones to the second bay, and above it is a stepped three-light flat-faced mullion window. The outshut has a similar window on the left, a mistal door with tie-stones at a lower level on the right, and another mistal door in the left return. At the rear, there is an opposing cart-entry with a single-light window above, which is obscured by a 20th-century stable that is not of interest. The right return features two single-light ground-floor windows, additional inserted windows, and an owl hole in the gable. Inside, the barn has queen post roof trusses with collars and struts. This building is included for its group value.
