Description
This milestone, located half a mile southwest of Wicken Hill Quarry, dates from the early 19th century. It features an arch-headed stone that is overlaid with cast iron. The top of the milestone reads "MYTHOLMROYD & BLACKSTONE EDGE ROAD SOWERBY." It has two projecting faces. The left face indicates "ROCHDALE," while the right face shows distances to "MYTHOLM 8 MILES," "ROYD 4 1/3 MILES," and "HALIFAX 10¼ MILES."
