Description

Nos. 3, 4, 5, and 6 Brook Green is a house that has been converted into four cottages. It dates from the late 17th century and has early 19th-century alterations. The building features rubble brought to course with ashlar dressings and a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high and has a hall and cross-wing plan with a three-room front that consists of three bays.

The first bay includes a 19th-century doorway with monolithic jambs and a double chamfered mullioned window with six lights, although the sill has been lowered and three mullions removed. Above this is a five-light flat faced mullioned window. The second bay features a large lintel and a twelve-light mullioned and transomed window, with the transoms and most mullions removed, and above it is another five-light flat faced mullioned window. There are hoodmoulds over the ground floor windows.

The right-hand bay contains a gabled cross-wing that is rendered, featuring a doorway with monolithic jambs and a three-light 19th-century mullioned window, with a mid-18th-century four-light flat faced mullioned window above that has square reveals. Attached to both the left and right sides are single-cell, two-storey early 20th-century extensions. The rear of the main range has a single-storey aisle with a gabled second storey, added in the late 19th century, and it features three stacks.
