Description

This is a late 17th-century house, subsequently divided into two cottages, with alterations from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The building is a three-bay, single-aisled house featuring a timber arcade with post and braces to the arcade plate. A king post truss is present. The interior of the left-hand cottage features panelling dating back to around 1720, with large fielded panels. The front elevation, two stories high, displays two bays of flat-faced mullioned windows with five lights, from which two mullions have been removed, as well as a three-light window above. The central bay contains a doorway with monolithic jambs and a three-light window above, from which the mullions have also been removed. Two chimney stacks are present, with one extruded to the left-hand gable. The interior of the right-hand cottage contains a segmental arched fireplace built on corbelled jambs, and includes simple chamfer details.
