Description
Walnut Tree Farmhouse and Walnut Cottage are an early 18th century building, possibly originating from the 17th century. This two-storey farmhouse is adjoined by a lower cottage. The structure features irregular coursed sandstone with some gritstone and has flush quoins. It is topped with stone slate roofs, and the gable ends of the farmhouse have parapet copings that rise from shaped kneelers.
The farmhouse has two windows facing the road, which are four-light chamfered mullions, along with a central mullioned transomed stair light. The adjoining cottage, No 38, is a single storey on the road side and has flush quoins with blocked three-light chamfered mullion windows. On the garden front to the south, the farmhouse displays three windows: two-light chamfered mullion outer windows and a centrally located single light in splayed painted surrounds. The cottage has two storeys on this front, featuring two four-light chamfered mullion windows.
