Description
Bolton Road Lodge, along with its gate piers and gates to Peel Park, was built in 1861 and is designed in the Italianate style. The building is two stories high, constructed from sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. It features a low pitched gable end slate roof with deep bracketed eaves. The main front has three bays with a low gabled break. The windows are archivolt arched and the central one is pedimented. There is a canted bay window at the east end and on the return side. The entrance has a pilastered doorway, and the building is topped with corniced chimneys. The tall rusticated gate piers are capped with a cornice, and the foot gates have spear-headed rails, while the carriage gates feature more ornate scrollwork.
