Description

The drinking fountain, erected in 1861, is located on the east drive south of Lister Lane in Peel Park. It features a classical-style ashlar baldacchino set on a parapeted terrace adorned with pineapple finials. Corinthian columns rise from angled pedestals, supporting archivolt arches with head keystones, and there is bull rush moulding in the spandrels. The structure is topped with a ribbed ashlar dome that has a ball finial. The fountain itself is designed in the shape of a vase and is prominently positioned on rising ground.
