Description
This drinking fountain, located approximately 50 metres south of the stable block to Astley Hall, was likely built in the late 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features a decorated pedestal that supports a shallow dish, with a smaller bowl on a stem rising from its centre. The fountain is topped with a domed canopy, which has intricate open work and is supported by four fluted columns. Each side of the columns features a multi-foil semicircular arch, above which is a round cartouche that encloses a leaf with a heron at the centre. Stylised leopards' heads are positioned on two corners of the coping.
