Description
The Manor House is a house, probably built in the later 17th century, that has been divided into two dwellings. It is constructed of sandstone rubble with a scored render on the facade and features a slate roof with one ridge chimney. The building has a U-shaped, three-bay plan with receding wings and stands two storeys high, plus attics in the wings. The facade has a high plinth, and the front door is located near the junction with the left wing. Most of the windows are 19th-century alterations, featuring stone sills, splayed stone heads, and sash designs, with one window on each floor of the central range and each wing. However, the oblong three-light attic openings in each wing gable may be original, and the left wing also includes a tall stairlight. Inside, the left wing contains a fine staircase of late 17th-century style, complete with a string, column newels, and turned balusters, which rises to the attic level. There is also an original roof truss that may be a raised cruck, along with some internal timber-framed partition walls, although the interior has been otherwise altered.
